December 2015 ~ Prayer Shawl Update
We are pleased to announce that the prayer shawl ministry is expanding. Prayer shawls and blankets are now being made for babies, children, and youth who are ill, hospitalized, or have other needs. Contact Karen Johnson, Mary DiNovi, or Bonnie Fowler if you know of a need that we can meet.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry began with a single shawl made especially for one person. Since then this ministry of love and prayer has grown beyond anything we could have imagined. Over 500 shawls have been created, prayed over, and blessed at the altar in the last few years. The Prayer Shawl group meets in the disciple room in Faith Hall on the 1st Monday of the month from 7:30 pm till 9:00 pm. We gather to share, knit, crochet and pray over prayer shawls made to be given to anyone that needs one. All are welcome, with or without skills! Need more details? See Mary Dinovi or Karen Johnson. We average between 5 and 12 shawls at each session and welcome new people who knit or crochet or have a desire to learn.
Our prayer is that the shawl will wrap you, or someone that you care about, in love. We also hope that the shawl will serve as a reminder that others care about your struggle and are praying for you, and that God is with you.
Shawls and lap robes will placed in the front of the sanctuary and will be blessed during certain worship services on various Sundays. After the service, please feel free to take one for yourself if you have a special prayer burden or for a friend who needs prayer and encouragement.
