Variety Breakfast

Where is the Best Breakfast in Town?

Right here at Cross Keys United Methodist Church!  Come join us  every first Saturday of the month for a great time of fellowship and a wonderful breakfast. October’s breakfast will be held on Saturday, October 7,, from 8:00 am -11:00am.  Come join us for what most people think is the best “all you can eat” breakfast around.  For the amazing price of $10 (children 3-12 $3, 0-2 free), you’ll want to invite your friends, neighbors, and co-workers to enjoy the great food and fellowship with you.  Volunteers are needed—if you want to join the awesome breakfast team (Friday morning and/or Saturday morning) call Linda Fuscia at 629-3379.

Thank you to everyone for your help and support of our breakfast months!

Meal Ministry

Members and Friends of Cross Keys Church: If you have had a recent hospital stay or have been dealing with illness, our Meal Ministry has some delicious meals that they will love to share with you!  Made with love and prayed over, a few meals like this may be just what you need. Contact Pat Sprengle for meals or if you know someone in the church who is in need.

The Hope Mobile Food Bank

The Hope Mobile Food Bank is our monthly community outreach for those who are in need of food.  On the third Saturday of each month we set up a food distribution center in the parking lot in front of our Educational Building.  Volunteers from our church and the community help us to reach disabled veterans, single mothers, senior citizens, and those who have lost jobs.  Each month we are able to help over 100 families.  Volunteers help us distribute food, set up tables, sort food, break apart boxes, to take down and clean up, and to encourage clients who need food.  Thinking of volunteering?  Come to the early shift, 7:00a to 8:00a, the middle shift—8:00a to 9:30a or to the late shift—9:30a to 11:00a.  Your hands can be the hands of Jesus at work in our community!

BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Our students are heading back to school and that means school supply lists are being posted in local stores and on school websites. These are not wish lists, but are required items a student needs to provide the first week of school. The additional expense of school supplies can be a financial burden to many. If you are a church family, Sunday School family or member of our youth group and need assistance with purchasing the supplies on your list, contact Karen Johnson by emailing KarenJ@crosskeyschurch.org. Include your name and a phone number so she can contact you. Larry Hardwick [1st service] and Joanne Jones [2nd service], also have information. Assistance from the Missions Committee will be in the form of a $50 gift card to Walmart and will be disbursed, by pre-arranged appointment with Karen Johnson, when you check out at Walmart.

Sunday School Begins Mark your calendars!

-  Rally Day will kick off in the sanctuary, students will break out to their classrooms to meet their teachers, new friends and to enjoy a treat.  It will be nice to hear the young little voices singing out in our Sunday School hallways again!    Cross Keys is privileged to offer Sunday School classes for all ages— Pre-K to adult!  Nursery is available for parents who would like to join in any of the Adult Sunday School Classes. We are also pleased to announce that this year 10% of our Sunday School offerings will go to the Red Bird School in Kentucky. Our church has supported Red Bird Mission for many years and now the Sunday School is joining in to help the children and school. Red Bird Christian School serves students in grades PreK-12 and centers on developing the full potential of its students in a Christian atmosphere.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”  Psalm 119:105.

New Women’s Study!

Women of every age are invited to join Doris Caola for her new Bible series, “The Amazing Women of the Bible.”  Each week we will dive into God’s Word so that we can get to know many intelligent and beautiful women who loved and served our Lord!  As we learn more about these faithful servants together, we are sure to grow in our faith and to have a few laughs along the way!  No registration is required and friends are welcome.  On Rally Day (September 10), we will meet in the sanctuary with the entire Sunday School.  At 10:45a, we will break out to our classroom in Faith Hall for an introduction to the study.  Beginning on September 17th, class will meet from 10:00-11:00a.  Hope to see you then.

Youth Group—Ready to Go!   God is on the move with the youth this year! Youth Group will kick off on Wednesday, September 13th at 7:00p.  We’re taking over Faith Hall and our youth are invited to bring a friend or two or three!  Join us as we find out God’s plans for us as we kick off our fall season with fun, friendship and faith!

This year we are adding a spectacular event to our line up!  The Ignite Youth retreat is September 29th to October 1st for grades 6 to 12 in Wildwood. IGNITE is more than a conference.  IGNITE is  a movement with a purpose to IGNITE the faith of the next generation of followers of Jesus Christ through life-changing worship, relevant teachings and authentic community. Youth from around the region will be inspired to discover God’s calling on their lives and go deeper in their faith journey. Many youth have already signed up and they are on fire for the Lord!    Finally, mark your calendar for October 14th Community Clean up, (rain date October 21st) fundraiser.  We need 30 volunteers. Are you wondering how picking up trash on a Saturday morning can be fun, come out and join us ... The youth will show you, because they find fun in everything we do including picking up trash. More details to come.

Movie Night-Saturday, September 16th, 7:00 pm  We jump right into our fall season with a movie night. All Youth and Adults are invited. Sometimes school is no picnic— friends peddling drugs… peer pressure and bullying challenges your faith every day.  What can you say?   How can you find the tools that will set you apart as a disciple of Jesus?  How can you share your faith with your classmates who are skeptical? This inspiring and powerful film is the true story of Rachel Joy Scott – the first student killed in the Columbine High School shooting in 1999.  As a Christian teen faced with the challenges of home and school, the film shows her ups and downs as she struggles, grows and walks in her faith.  Her love and compassion were put to the ultimate test when armed classmates entered the Columbine High School on a fateful day that changed America forever.  With Rachel’s death one might think that is the end of her story, but God was just getting started!  You won’t want to miss this gripping story about life and faith a hope that is even greater than death!  Snacks and popcorn are included!

Men's Group Dinner-Friday, September 29  The Men's Group will have their annual “Dinner Extravaganza” at the Buca Di Beppo in Atlantic City at 7:00p. Seating is limited to 20 people and there is a sign-up sheet in the vestibule of the church.  Please join us for a night of fun, food and fellowship.  Everyone will meet at 6:00p in the church parking lot to form a carpool.
