Care Packages for College Students: Due by April 23, 2017

In the coming month, the Nurture Committee is sending out care packages to college students who are away from home.  Please contact Larry Hardwick, Mary Dreisbach or Pastor Jeff with the names and addresses of any college student that you would like to receive a care package.  They do not have to attend CKUMC to receive a package.

The committee is also seeking donations for the packages.  Suggestions include macaroni and cheese, microwavable popcorn, soups, crackers, snacks, gummi bears, phone cards, Christian CDs, stationary, stamps, toiletries or other items you think a college student could use.  If you would like to donate but don’t want to shop, see Larry, Mary or Rich & Bonnie Fowler and they will be happy to take your monetary donation.  All donations are due by Sunday, April 23, 2017.

Food Barrel

The Nurture committee would like to make you all aware that a food barrel has been placed in Faith Hall.  Food items donated to this barrel will go to the Lady of Peace closet ministerium.  Each month, there are so many families in need, that we are asking for your help to fill the barrel.

The Nurture Committee has been expanding its outreach by visiting shut-ins and building a mentoring bond with new visitors to help them get acquainted with what Cross Keys has to offer, and making them feel welcomed. Our dinner program is growing as we seek more of our church family to take part.

Support is given in many ways... It may be a caring phone call to let someone know you are there; or lending a helping hand to someone in need; possibly help someone get to the doctor, or just putting a smile on their face.

The card ministry is growing and gives comfort, joy and peace to those who have not been able to make it out for periods of time, maybe due to illness or passing of a loved one. We pray that you have been touched by one of these many ministries in some way.

Hello Church Family,
We are looking for volunteers to make meals for our dinner program. If you can help out in anyway we sure would appreciate it. Please contact Pat Spengle to sign up to help at 856-562-8578. She is
looking for drivers to pick up and deliver food to the sick or shut ins. This is an outreach for those that are ill, shut-ins, or for ones just coming out of the hospital to give them a little boost. If you’re unable to make a full meal even soup would be great. Thank you and Blessings of Christ Love to you all. Linda

The Nurture Committee meets the second Wednesday of every month at 7:30 P.M. in Faith Hall. The committee has several functions which are to welcome newcomers, caring of members, community outreach, and Christian care.

The Nurture Committee has several ministries, such as a greeting card ministry which helps us keep in touch with those who may be ill or simply need to know they are in our prayers, providing children's bags to help occupy small children during services, and giving a mug with a scripture tea bag and sugar to make our first time visitors feel more welcomed. There is a meal ministry, providing meals to those who may be ill or in need and a ministry preparing retreats during the year to help us grow in our walk with God.

We are always assessing the needs of the Church and the Community with a close relationship of maintaining a Caring Christian Outreach with dinners, cards, phone calls, and visits. If you're thinking of someone and want to send a card, there are cards in the vestibule of the church. Please pick one up to cheer someone.

Located in the vestibule of the church is Jacob's Ladder which has bags filled with crayons and coloring books for the young children to take while the Sunday service is taking place.

Visitation teams will be starting to go visit with our shut-ins and also new visitors.

  • Our Lay Shepherding Program...
  • The Drama Team meets for special drama presentations done throughout the year.
  • Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the 1st Monday of the month at 7:30 P.M. This group knits prayer shawls for the sick and as an outreach. This is a blessing to be able to give these shawls to neighbors that are in need of prayer all over the world.
  • The Men's Group meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 7 P.M.
  • Women's Programs include retreats and dinners with guest speakers during the year.
