Outreach Team – Faith Walks are back!
Now that the weather has cooled down, we will begin our Faith Walks through our beloved neighborhoods. Our first walk will actually take place at our church, around the cemetery, the parking lot, Faith Hall and the Sanctuary, praying for God to bless this Faith Walks project. Sharon and I will email the exact dates for November soon. I hope you will join us and take part in this experience.
Don’t forget that any suggestion you may have for the outreach team, please email email@example.com.

Now that the warm weather is finally here, we want to suggest that we all keep in mind those elderly that live near us. Perhaps they do not have central air or any form of air conditioning. Let’s check up on our neighbors and elderly with love and concern about their well-being during these heated months that are approaching.
On another note, I will give the church a heads-up about the upcoming activity “Faith Cakes”. Please keep in prayer, all of the businesses… large and small, in our area. It saddens me to see businesses that have failed and are now closed. Aside from being an eyesore, I am always aware that there is someone that invested much to make their dream come true. The economy has hurt many people through job and business loss. So to brighten these businesses, we will share some Faith Cakes and let them know that we are keeping them in prayer and believe that God will maintain them and even exceed their bottom line!
Outreach defined by popular dictionaries: The extent or length of reaching out; an effort to bring services or information to people where they live or spend time; reaching out to others, or becoming involved in a community or effort; a systematic attempt to provide services beyond conventional limits; providing services to any population who might not otherwise have access to those services.
Outreach defined by scripture: Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations Matt. 28:18-20; Preach the word! 2 Timothy 4:2; Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Mark 16:15
One thing is for certain, Outreach is a Ministry that is meant to be on the move…a Ministry meant to reach out in love to all those in need. Outreach is a Ministry that can be likened to a construction company, meant to construct sidewalks that lead souls back to the church. Pray for this ministry as we continue to go before God asking for direction on how to reach out to our local community. We are always open to suggestions - Please send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
A Message from the Outreach Team
We have just celebrated Easter, Resurrection Day, La Pascua, one of the most important days in the Christian calendar, absolutely pivotal to the Christian faith. While I understand the history of the Resurrection Day, what I truly love is what it means for my life. All that was dead in me is now alive through the power of God.
- You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cutaway. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. Colossians 2:13
- As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins…..But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions, it is by grace you have been saved. Ephesians 2:1, 4 & 5
Let’s share the joy we have with all the world and we can start with a simple “Good morning!” All this month make it a point to say good morning to all who cross your path, in your home, at the Wawa, or at the office. Just say good morning and accompany it with a great big smile. Ask God every morning to bless your personal outreach by touching the hearts of others through your words. This world needs more love, and we are the people connected to the Source.
We are the salt of the earth, we are the witnesses in our neighborhoods, join me as we draw our neighbors closer to God by building sidewalks that lead back to our church. God bless you!
A Message from the Outreach Team
Please keep Sharon and Betty in prayer as they begin to seek the Lord for creative ideas on how to reach out to our neighborhoods. Also, we have business card size Sunday School invites for children, let us know if you liked to have a few. Sharon handed them out during Halloween, BRILLIANT outreach idea!
Don’t forget that any suggestion you may have for the outreach team please email Betty_Chapman@Live.com. God bless!
Prayer Warriors Needed
The outreach team will be doing a Faithwalk next month… yes even in the cold! We have one volunteer so far, Sharon Boffo, “The Brave One”, but we’re looking for others that have a heart to pray for their neighborhoods in a new and unique way. We’re also in need of prayer warriors that will pray at home while we walk through a neighborhood. We are the salt of the earth, we are the witnesses in our neighborhoods, join me as we draw our neighbors closer to God by building sidewalks that lead back to our church. God bless you!
News from the Employment Ministry
The employment ministry has continued to work with individuals on a one on one basis. I wanted to let everyone know that there was someone that had come to the Chicken Corn Cookout and was unemployed. The young man was accompanied by his parents, and they later also attended Sunday school. I had this young man with his parents over to my home, we were able to revise his resume slightly, and within two weeks we were able to place him in a full time job, PRAISE THE LORD!! Please continue to pray for all those that find themselves unemployed, underemployed or unhappily employed.
On another note: while everyone deserves to discover what they love to do and find a way to make a living out of it, many of us have taken employment in certain places because we have financial obligations. Don’t stop searching for that one thing that you're so very passionate about that could possibly make you extra money on the side. We were all born with gifts and talents, our job as human beings and believers is to discover our gifts and talents and maximize their potential. Seek to multiply all that God has given you. We will be praying for you!

A Message from the Outreach Team ~ May 2015
Most of us are very accustomed to saying grace at the dinner table with our family, and some of us may even do it when we are alone. Let us consider experimenting with the following:
For the next 30 days whenever we eat out, before we consume the food, let’s bow our head for a moment and pray. If we are eating out with our family or friends, let’s hold their hands as we pray. Now, I'm not talking about a loud, church stomping, hand clapping, distract everyone in the restaurant kind of prayer. Just simply, a prayer of thanks for your daily bread, perhaps a slight bowing of the head, a momentary closing of the eyes, and a humble and sincere heart that whispers a few audible words giving thanks and praying a blessing for their server and his or her team. In church, share what the experience was like, especially if you've never ever done this before.
This is just another idea to tinker with to take the love of our Heavenly Father out into a hurting world. God bless everyone!
About The Outreach Committee
As has already been announced, Cross Keys Church is in the process of creating an Outreach Ministry. The very specific purpose of this Ministry is to reach out to our unchurched neighbors. We have listened to the Pastor quote us statistics on the decline of families attending church; I think it’s safe to say that when believers built the church in 1875, God had these souls in mind. The great mandate we have from God in Mark 16:15 is to go into all of the world and preach the gospel to all creation. There are many ways to take this gospel to hurting, unchurched souls; this mission is what this ministry is all about.
We have been praying and asking God to give us some ideas on how to reach out to the Williamstown community. Here are some ideas we’ve been able to come up with: Have a booth at local fairs and events with small gifts to give away; provide a church service at a nursing home; start a prom dress exchange so teens in need can feel special on that big night or do a collection of used prom dresses; provide women in shelters haircuts and manicures; help in writing a resume, job interview skills, computer basics, etc.; take packets with enough money, detergent and softener for 1 load, along with candy and brochure about CKUMC to local Laundromats; serve healthy snacks to patients of chemotherapy….the list goes on. Maybe you have some ideas on how we can reach out to folks with a positive message from our church, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or see me at church. Betty Chapman is maintaining a database of outreach ideas, wouldn’t it be cool to see one of your ideas come to life?
1- We are looking for volunteers that would be willing to pray for lost souls while the group is out on outreach missions. You would be an integral part of the ministry as none of this can happen without fervent prayer from the saints. We have already signed up one person for this part of the ministry.
2- We are also looking for volunteers willing to go out on some of the outreach missions. This would be a good opportunity for those that have felt a passion for lost souls. If you have been asking God how you can be of use to Him, or how you can be a good or better steward, consider the possibility of sharing God with individuals through the Outreach Ministry.
Please pray and search your soul to see if God would lead you to take part at some capacity in this ministry. Perhaps you could pray the way Paul did, “Lord, what will you have me do?" Acts 9:6
God placed His call on Betty Chapman, she answered, and the Administrative Council confirmed her appointment as the new Outreach chairperson here at Cross Keys. Betty has a passion to reach lost friends for Jesus and is experienced in ministering to marginalized people in the inner city. About 60 percent of people with a 1-mile radius of the Cross Keys Church do not attend church, but knocking door to door is no longer an effective way of reaching them. Driven by her love for Jesus and armed with some unconventional methods, Betty will show us new ways to connect with the lost through our everyday family, friendship, and neighborhood relationships. Yard signs, special appreciation cards, distribution of fliers and several Bring A Friend Sundays are all on the docket. Please pray for wisdom and strength for Betty as she follows God’s leading. If you would like to be part of the Outreach team, contact Betty at email@example.com.
The Outreach Committee is dedicated to welcoming new comers to the church and outreach into the community. The goal of the committee is to realize a steady growth of the Church while maintaining the close knit community of a small church. We believe in sharing the“Good News" of Jesus Christ with the whole world.
