In this final message of the series, The Most Important Place On Earth, my theme will be that one of the greatest strengths of the Christian home is that we understand how important it is to take a stand for Christ and to share our faith with those who are around us. In a climate where our culture is increasingly turning away from God, our motivating emotion should not be fear of what others will think but compassion for lost. Our prayer should not be help me to be safe, but help me to be your faithful witness despite the cost. As Christ-followers we strive to make our homes the place where find our identity as Christians, where we learn what makes us different, and where we train in the things that God calls us to do in the world.

As Christians we understand the importance of gratitude and strive to foster a lifestyle of gratitude in the children who are under our care. Like the sinful woman who anointed Jesus’ feet, our gratitude for all that God has done for us expresses itself in acts of love and service toward others. In gratitude, we love God and we love our neighbor. Ultimately, gratitude is an act of worship—we worship God with grateful hearts and our lifestyle becomes an act of worship as we serve others just as Jesus served us.

It was from Antioch that Christianity launched its worldwide mission and there believers were first called Christians, or “Christ-Ones.” The “Oneness” of faith in Jesus Christ among the Christians at Antioch was the secret of Antioch. Their unity was not based on race, nationality or gender but on their unified faith in Christ. With such unity, the church was more than a collection of individuals. It was a spiritual family. In this message I will ask, how can our homes be a model for Christian community, how can we grow the partnership between our resident home and our spiritual home and how can we help children to become more involved with their spiritual family?
